Movies Showing at this Week's Movie & Popcorn Nights

Posted by Jordan Jones in , ,

We will be watching The Blind Side tonight at Crosswalk. It is rated PG-13, but we think it is a great conversation-starter movie and is worthy of our time.

On Wednesday night, we will be watching UP.

Winter Retreats Update

Posted by Jordan Jones in

We have heard the financial need! We desire that every student that wants to go on this weekend to see God can go. So we have lowered both retreats to $50 apiece.

If you have already paid the full price, we will be willing to offer you the difference in price, but would also ask that you prayerfully consider maintaining your current payment so we can use more resources to scholarship other students. Actually, maybe you would be interested in sending in more money to support this weekend?

Family Nights at Impact & Crosswalk

Posted by Jordan Jones in

Just a quick reminder that this coming Wednesday and Sunday (Jan. 27 & 31) we are hosting Family Nights at our gatherings. So parents and families are invited to join us for the music, teaching, a parent forum (while your student heads off to small group time) & connection time with small group leaders & the Student Staff Team after things wrap up.

We see this as an integral event, as you will receive a taste of what a "typical" night looks like & have the opportunity to further get-to-know your child's small group leader.

See you there!

Out of the Dark Series at Impact

Posted by Jordan Jones in ,

We start a new series tomorrow night at Impact embracing the book of Hosea for the month. I know I say this all the time, but you just can't miss Wednesdays in January. The Spirit has overwhelmed me the last week about what He is going to do through this series.

OVERWHELMED ME.

I recognize that Scripture tells us that Satan is in the business of plucking away seeds of truth and revelation or that certain people don't have ears to hear or some do, but choose their selfish desires anyway. However, if anyone joins us on this journey the next 3 weeks with any semblance of an open heart and mind- the Spirit has confirmed that you won't walk away unchanged.

A bold statement- yes.

But honestly...should we expect any less?

It's the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD.

It's what He does.

The better question is: why don't we expect it more?!?

Hosea 1 tomorrow night.

See you there.

Bring your Bibles...

Posted by Jordan Jones in

Hey all,

I know you hear us say this all the time...but maybe you didn't know if we meant it...

But I am asking each of you who owns a Bible to bring it every Sunday & Wednesday night that we are in a specific series. It's sad how few students actually do this. Not that it's a rule or mandate, but because it should be a joy to explore Scriptures while looking through your own copy of the text! And- we want you to be able to check anything that a teacher says...you should never just take their word for it...no matter how much you trust them. And you can't check the Scriptures they are using without a copy of them yourself!

Check out what Luke wrote in Acts:

"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." - Acts 17:11

If the Bereans examined what Paul said against the Scriptures...

Rooted Groups this Spring

Posted by Jordan Jones in ,

I will be doing 8 straight posts the next 8 days giving a small glimpse into each of the 8 Rooted Groups Collide Student Ministries will be offering this Spring. I will start with middle school then move on to high school.

I can't express how crucial these groups are. They take all of the places you are seeing God work (whether through a Sunday or Wednesdsay gathering, church service, your small group, Campus Life, Young Life, your daily coming and going, etc.) and allows you to process all of this as well as focus in on a key area of faith.

It's vital.

And I'm not just promoting it because it's my job...it honestly was my favorite thing I participated in all Fall. Hope you really think and pray about it.

Much love.
